Biking
Pretty generic hobby: Biking. I know it is most perceived as
something children do for fun, rather than a hobby but it is definitely not a
waste of time. It helps me physically and mentally. Whenever I am in a bad mood
then I go biking and it wipes my negativity away. It’s something about the air
blowing in your face and being outside that makes you feel relaxed. Depends on
the weather of course but if you are dedicated enough you can bike in 20 mph
(mile per hour) winds, below freezing temperatures, and scorching sun-full
days.
Even on the worst days, biking brings my mood up. It also helps if you
can get proper motivation. This can come in multiple forms. Destination is
important. Mark out a place you want to go no matter how difficult it may be,
and reward yourself once you get there. Another way to get motivation is to
bike with other people; friends, family, etc. Talking to someone helps pass the
time while you are on the trails. That’s why I biked with Dream Team. It’s a group
of youth riders (mentis), grouped with adults (mentors) to train for about 3
months for Ragbrai. Biking with people is a great way to build friendships, and
have fun. I also use my bike to get around. I go to my friend’s houses whenever
I don’t have a ride. It is the more entertaining way of getting around. One of
the best hobbies that you can have, I think is biking. It is healthy, Its fun
(aside from riding up mile long hills), and it brings people together in ways.
I would definitely suggest taking a ride if you have a bike and realize how
entertaining/soothing/time taking it is.
Nice to hear how biking can bring your spirits up and keep you motivated
ReplyDeleteThanks. I would definitely recommend it.
DeleteWhere do you like to bike? I think there are a lot more trails, etc than when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI live in Windsor Heights most of the time, so there is only one trail that I know. One way leads to a skate park, and the other way goes downtown.
